Lacrosse in Amsterdam had its first home at the museumplein. The Amsterdam Lions were formally founded together with the introduction of lacrosse in the Netherlands in 2003. That same year the first edition of Lowlands took place. All this would soon take of and result in what is now a very ambitious and professional club.
The men played their first game in 2003. A couple years later the ladies followed and in 2008 the first ever women’s league was won by them.
The fast grow of the sport both in the Netherlands and in Amsterdam resulted at the start of the season 2008/2009 in a second men’s team. It is only a matter of time to have a second ladies team.
The season of 2008/2009 ended with a great win of our first men’s team over the Rotterdam Jaguars in the play-off finals, making Amsterdam home of the champions again.
